In recent times liposuction is a hugely popular method. With obesity being one of the most common problems that almost all the nations are facing liposuction procedures are becoming increasingly common. However this procedure is not quite young and in fact had begun yearsd ago , way back in the early 1990s.
As early as 1926 a French liposuction surgeon known as Charles Dujarier was trying out fat removal techniques. His methods contimued to gain prominence until there was an accident that scared people about the methods of fat removal surgery. The story goes that Charles Dujarier was operating on a hugely popular French model and removing excess fat deposits from her thigh. However due to certain wrong moves in his part he could not complete the liposuction procedure safely. The patient developed a gangrene and died. This was a great set back not only for the surgeon but also for the entire liposuction procedure. People lost interest and body contouring was thought to be a risky procedure.
In the late 1960s however this procedure started getting rejuvenitated. However a break through in this surgical procedure was achieved in 1980s when the French surgeon De Yves –Gerard Illouz found a suctiobn based method that used blunt cannulas and high-vacuum suction to remove fat from the human body. The liposuction process was further better in late 1980s when two US dermatologists tried the tumescent technique, which added high volumes of fluid containing a local anesthetic allowing the procedure to be done in an office setting under intravenous sedation rather than general anesthesia. The modern method that is used now is quite similar to this process.
