My name is Andy Peretz. I was a professional footballer playing for a very prestigious club in my country. I was known for my aggression and do-or-die kind of moves. One day, during a very rough and tough game, I got entangled and fell down, and another player landed on me, hitting his boots on my thighs. I broke a bone and the doctors told me I could never play football again. I felt my life was devastated. I always thought I belonged in the open green fields, and now felt restricted. However negative, one good thing I got during this time was that I got very patient.
One day after my bone injury had healed properly, one of my friends took me to a golf course. It was a long time since I’d been in the open. I felt a certain familiarity even though I’d never been on a golf course before. I thought about giving the game a try. And just in a few days, I got hooked. I loved the feel of the vast open greens. And the game matched my changed temperament too.
Now I enjoy golf as much as I did football. I am not after any pro golf career; maybe I am afraid I might lose it too. Nor am I eyeing one of those countless golf jobs that are advertised every now and then. However, I am thinking about attending a golf school, just for the love of the game.
